11:10:32 From Marian Starkey : Here’s the magazine article Pam just mentioned: https://populationconnection.org/article/poped-december-2021/ 11:10:52 From Marian Starkey : and here’s the full digital version of the December magazine, which just came out yesterday! https://populationconnection.org/magazine/december-2021/ 11:14:26 From Membership Relations : Our 2020-2021 World of 7 Billion winners can be found here! https://www.worldof7billion.org/student-video-contest/2021-winners/ 11:14:46 From Phoebe : Thanks Marian! Just to remind folks also of http://planet3billion.com/index.html - Chris Tucker's perhaps iconoclastic but important analysis 11:15:44 From Marian Starkey : here’s that carbon tagging video Pam just mentioned: https://www.worldof7billion.org/video_winners/carbon-tagging-a-solution-to-consumer-fueld-carbon-emissions/ 11:22:51 From Marian Starkey : Action Fund endorsements here: https://www.populationconnectionaction.org/vote/endorsements/ 11:23:21 From Marian Starkey : and more details about the policies and legislation Brian outlined here: https://www.populationconnectionaction.org/policy-priorities/ 11:24:25 From Marian Starkey : here are clips from some of John’s radio interviews! https://populationconnection.org/learn/population-economy/ 11:31:30 From Marian Starkey : you can watch Congresswoman Schakowsky’s keynote here: https://www.populationconnectionaction.org/2021-capitol-hill-days-recap/ 11:32:33 From Ann : Can you recommend some NPOs that provide family planning services around the world? 11:36:11 From Natalie Widel : Hi Ann--there are many small organizations that are very effective at providing family planning services to their communities. We partner with a few wonderful orgs, which you can learn more about here: https://populationconnection.org/learn/international-partnerships/ We plan to identify more international partners to work with in the future! 11:44:35 From Gregory : A new type of "off-the-wall" in-situ education on issues such as population and climate change could take the form of large strips of sequential information -- think timelines and 'hockey stick' strips -- on laminated material posted on large public walls in schools and colleges and even subway stations that show the rapidly developing 'progress' of population growth, species extinction, growth of poverty, and atmospheric carbon accumulation (not to mention things like the electromagnetic spectrum). The great content of the newest iteration of the Dot Video could be so presented! 11:48:09 From Marian Starkey : this is the NYT article Brian just mentioned: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/20/style/breed-children-climate-change.html 11:52:00 From Marian Starkey : if you like looking at demographic data, here’s the 2019 revision of the UN’s World Population Prospects: https://population.un.org/wpp/ 11:52:33 From Marian Starkey : the UN Population Division says new projections will be released in May/June 11:54:14 From Phoebe : We in the (new) Stable Planet Alliance are tackling stabilization and decline of both population and consumption at once. Would love to have a discussion with PopConn about these issues and how to align our workplans, agendas and messaging. 11:54:15 From Gregory : Can the Population Connection PAC point out that one of our two political parties is friendly to 'HER' along with all things environmental/climate/poverty/people -- and the other party quite the opposite? This kind of overall-party messaging can persuade progressively-minded and especially younger people that they can vote these values by simply voting D. 11:55:31 From Natalie Widel : If you'd like to send follow-up questions along, please email them to engage@popconnect.org and someone will get back to you with an answer! 11:57:32 From Lindy : I think the 'population growth is necessary for prosperity' is tied to our misconception generally that growth is necessary to sustain and build world economies and increase prosperity for all. Endless growth for both population and business is an unsustainable model so, as discussed, this general attitude needs to change. 11:58:35 From Gregory : Not generally known: Back at the end of the '60s, when I was a Congressional intern in the office of a (liberal Republican) Representative, there was actually a Republican Study Group or Committee on Population and Environment! Rep. George Bush Sr. was a member -- as was Rep. Paul 'Pete' McCloskey, the member I was interning with. Hard to believe now. That this Republican group existed and did work could be the subject of a provocative video and/or article!
