I need to head out early. 13:44:20 From Marianna to Everyone: I was referring to situations where there are parts of the country which are environmentally livable but being emptied out as people move to cities for jobs, leaving only the oldest 13:45:45 From Stephanie Wolfe to Hosts and panelists: Another question in the chat box: Today's report also points to immigration as a main driver of future population growth in some populations. Can you speak more to this? 13:49:14 From Dr. Jane O'Sullivan to Everyone: Most credible estimates of sustainable global population are under 3 billion, assuming a modest middle-class lifestyle. The biggest impacts are from the food system, which wealth level doesn't affect so strongly. 13:51:21 From Dave to Everyone: If you divide global GDP first by 2, because we are close to 2-planet living today, then divide by 8 billion people, that gives you a pretty low amount of economic throughput per person - something like $6K. That would be VERY simple living. So, yes, we must embrace (and accelerate) population contraction. 13:59:30 From Bryce to Everyone: Thank you, Marian and Olivia, for your well-researched and insightful presentation! 13:59:58 From Laura to Everyone: This was awesomely informative!
