Guatemala 09:15:52 From Rebecca W to Everyone: Amazing work, thank you! Just looked up the “East Los High” stats, including 27K clicks on the Planned Parenthood widget on the show site - amazing! Any pushback/difficulties within Hollywood about that show? 09:19:22 From Bill Ryerson to Everyone: No pushback at all. We never tell the audience members what to do, so they don't become controversial. 09:20:47 From Rebecca W to Everyone: Awesome to hear! 09:26:35 From A. Stuart H to Everyone: How do the media programs correlate with the mean incomes of the populations over the same period? 09:26:51 From Olivia Nater to Everyone: What a gorgeous bear 😍 09:28:10 From Florence Blondel to Everyone: It's a gorgeous bear indeed, too bad one European country wants to kill 250 of them! 09:29:41 From Population Connection to Everyone: If you have questions for our speakers, please submit them in the Q&A box. We will answer them during the Q&A session! 🙂 09:34:32 From Lauren Salmiery to Everyone: Such great photos, Sara! 09:36:44 From Rebecca W to Everyone: Amazing work! For both speakers: What challenges are you facing in the current political environment? 09:39:57 From Martin E to Everyone: For Sara - I really like the way that your projects involve the women in direct research. Can you say more about the way the research is managed, how it is funded, and what sort of income do the women achieve. 09:42:27 From Bill Ryerson to Everyone: To respond to Stuart's question, there are many factors affecting economic development in each country. We know that every country that has transitioned from developing status to developed status started with family planning and smaller family size. This allowed couples to save some funds after meeting the needs for food, housing, and clothing of their smaller families. The expansion of investment capital allowed business to expand, building employment opportunities, combined with slower growth of the numbers seeking employment, which led to increasing wages. Some of the extra funds could be spent on education, which increased economic productivity. The government could tax the rising incomes and use the funds to improve infrastructure, such as schools, roads, power, and other municipal services, all of which led to increased economic productivity. And with rising incomes, families could afford to buy elective goods, stimulating the manufacturing sector. 09:49:48 From Karen B: This is a wonderful program! So glad I signed up to listen 09:50:24 From Population Connection to Everyone: Thank you, Karen! We are so glad you could join us for this important discussion. W4C and PMC amaze me! 09:56:06 From Dr. Mansoor to Everyone: Thank you! 10:00:06 From Dane K to Everyone: Please consider adding UpstreamUSA and EngenderHealth to your future presentations like this. Upstream has helped over 700,000 women obtain contraceptive care in the United States. Engender Health has served 1.1 million women, averting 1.7 million unintended pregnancies and 477,400 abortions in Asia and Africa. Engender Health has also had its funding cut by USAID. 10:04:14 From Dane K to Everyone: https://www.engenderhealth.org/ https://upstream.org/ 10:05:12 From Florence Blondel to Everyone: Follow us on our socials. https://www.instagram.com/populationconnection/ 10:05:45 From Florence Blondel to Everyone: https://bsky.app/profile/popconnect.bsky.social 10:07:31 From Florence Blondel to Everyone: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/population-connection 10:08:43 From Population Connection to Everyone: Yes, Naty!! I note that several of their heirs of Sam Walton (Wal-Mart) have donated heavily to anti-Planned Parenthood campaigns. Ditto Koch Brothers (cheap energy products, driven by high population growth). The extreme late capitalist baddies are pushing this. Thanks, Bill! 10:24:19 From Bill Ryerson to Rebecca W: In fact, we have had several storylines with these themes. Often, these are transitional characters who come to realize the error of their ways - in front of a mass audience. 10:24:54 From Rebecca W to Everyone: Got it. Very optimistic of you - and probably much better that way for story-telling & audience empowerment. :-) 10:25:34 From Bill Ryerson to Rebecca Weiner: 🙂 10:26:32 From Jack F to Everyone: Critically important statement! 10:28:04 From Martin Earl: Hi Florence, is there a chance of getting a copy of getting that video for a talk I am giving in about three weeks? It was great. Martin 10:28:47 From Rebecca W to Everyone: Thanks for this great event! 10:29:03 From Jennifer J to Everyone: Thank you! 10:29:17 From Martin E to Everyone: Thank you everyone.
