2020 Summer of HER

On August 29, we wrapped up another successful Summer of HER with #Fight4HER’s 3rd annual HER Summit. Unlike in previous years, when we’ve gathered in person, this year was completely digital, with two separate summits for eastern and western states. Even so, over 400 dedicated #Fight4HER activists from across the country came together and spent their Saturday morning learning about global reproductive health and rights.

They had the opportunity to hear directly from #Fight4HER champions in Congress, including Reps. Joyce Beatty (OH-3), David Price (NC-4), Chris Pappas (NH-1), Ami Bera (CA-7), Ruben Gallego (AZ-7), Raúl Grijalva (AZ-3), Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-2), and Susie Lee (NV-3). Activists also broke out into smaller organizing workshops led by Summer of HER fellows, where they learned skills like effective phone banking, relational organizing to tap into their personal networks and mobilize friends and family to vote, and leveraging the media by writing and submitting letters to the editor for publication.

With so much at stake this November, these skills will be necessary as we work to elect candidates who will stand up for global reproductive freedom. And with just two months until the election, there’s no time to waste. It’s crucial that #Fight4HER candidates win at the polls!
