World Population Day with Dr. Gerardo Ceballos
This World Population Day, we hosted Dr. Gerardo Ceballos, a prominent voice in ecology and conservation!
This was a unique opportunity to delve into his research that has shaped our understanding of biodiversity and the pressing environmental issues we face today. We explored his work, his long friendship and collaboration with Paul Ehrlich, and what today’s environmental challenges can teach us about the relationship between people and the planet.

Partner Perspectives with FlowReady
In Eastern Uganda, menstrual health is often addressed too late—after girls have already experienced confusion, stigma, and disruption to their education. For many girls, the first period is still seen as a signal that they are ready for marriage and childbearing, putting their health, education, and futures at risk.
One of our newest Global Partners, FlowReady, is working to change this story by equipping girls with knowledge, confidence, and support before they reach menarche, while engaging parents, teachers, and community leaders to shift harmful norms.

Earth Day Presentation with John Seager
It’s been 10 years since our co-publication, The Good Crisis: How Population Stabilization Can Foster a Healthy U.S. Economy. A decade later, we’re still making the same argument: lower fertility rates are good for the health and well-being of people and the planet.
Population Connection President and CEO, John Seager, unpacks how the demographic changes now underway represent an extraordinary opportunity for us to focus on creating a greater, rather than larger, society. Official Side Event at the 59th Session of the United Nations Commission on Population and Development
We hosted an official side event for the UN Commission on Population and Development, fifty-nineth session. This year’s theme is “Population, technology and research in the context of sustainable development.”
Demographic, health, and geospatial environmental research has stalled due to devastating funding cuts. As a result, there is a deficit of current, high-quality data, thwarting efforts to address pressing sustainable development challenges, all of which are exacerbated by population growth.

Partner Perspectives with Women for Conservation
We heard from Population Connection Senior Analyst Hannah Evans, who visited Women for Conservation (W4C) in November. She provided insights into Colombia’s demographic trends before diving into captivating photos and stories from her site visit.
We were also joined by mother-daughter duo: Sara Inés Lara, Founder and President of W4C, and Isabella Cortés Lara, Executive Director of W4C. Together, they delved into the organization’s impactful programs. Additionally, they reflected on their experience at the 2025 International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) held in Bogotá, Colombia, sponsored by Population Connection.

Aid Withheld: One Year without US Global Health Assistance
In collaboration with our sister organization, Population Connection Action Fund, we hosted a discussion with community organizers whose work has been impacted by the U.S. foreign aid “freeze” and the dissolution of USAID (the US Agency for International Development). Speakers shared their firsthand experiences dealing with funding cuts to community-led programs that were working to improve essential healthcare services, combat gender-based violence, and protect reproductive freedom.
